Title:     Quality Control Chemist – Level 1

Division:              Laundry Division

The position is responsible for the daily conductance of Quality Control testing. Additionally, this position is responsible for the accurate documentation of results records. The position is further responsible for the maintenance of production sample retention and rotation. The position will seek to develop and implement new testing methods and will perform methods qualification testing as directed by Management.

Additionally, the position will have the opportunity to assist in the providence of technical support services, including chemistries and systems, to support customers and business ventures. Such phases of laboratory support including bench sample preparation, performance evaluation, sample analyses, problem solving; all of which are monitored and documented.

Quality Control:

  • Perform daily Quality Control testing of production materials.
  • Record all generated data in appropriate folders, binders, computer systems.
  • Develop additional test methods to improve characterization of products and their quality attributes.
  • Interface with manufacturing to resolve production out-of-specification batches.
  • Test incoming raw materials against documented specifications.
  • Perform calibration of laboratory instruments as required.
  • Maintain and properly dispose of production retain samples.
  • Harmonize quality control specification values amongst systems including but not limited to: Excel Formulary, GP/Vicinity, documented Specification files, Toll Blender Sheets.
  • Maintain proper Change Control specific to specifications and formula revisions.
  • Comply with ISO Quality Management System.
  • Screen raw materials and alternative vendor partner samples to minimize formulation costs, enhance formulation quality, maximize profits, and maximize the Company’s supply chain.

Technical Service

  • To assist Service Representatives in addressing questions, problems, and other needs in a timely fashion. Where applicable, the results of such investigative efforts are reported to the customer. Reports will be issued in a harmonized manner to promote the Company’s image.
  • Perform analyses on submitted fabrics which could include microscopy study, physical properties determination, color measurements, multiple wash trials, etc.
  • As needed, visit customer facilities as an extension of service network.

Maintenance of Corporate Security

  • Maintain the confidentiality of corporate intellectual properties including   product formulas, profitability of products, customer worth and profitability, and all other assets. Lab books and other printed information are to be stored when not in use.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of corporate intellectual properties including electronic databases including but not limited to: Vicinity, Great Plains, Toll Blender sheets, Specifications for finished products and raw     materials.
  • Ensure the functionality of the laboratories by monitoring the inventory and functionality of lab supplies, raw materials, equipment, and washers.

Daily Functionality of Laboratories

  • Ensure the functionality of the laboratories by monitoring the inventory and functionality of lab supplies, raw materials, equipment, and washers.
  • Calibrate laboratory instrumentation. Procure and properly stock consumables within the laboratory.
